FOUR DAYS IN TURIN (Italy) AND 18TH BIRTHDAY !!

Welcome to the first ever entry of Beetle Diary! In this little page I'll be ranting about my first steps into adulthood while in my favorite italian city ever. I'll keep a money count cuz it's fun (:

DAY 1 - February 7th 2025

Money brought along: Money brought along: €77.55 (not a lot I know)

With an average of four hours of sleep, the day starts with school because I missed too many days already and I really need the presence. Our plane is at 3.30pm, so I've got plenty of time to get at least five 50min lessons. This is being written in real time. Get me out of chemistry please.

As I'm still stuck in chemistry I've decided to keep a Pikmin count because Pikmin Bloom as consumed my life! Hell yeah!

Pikmin count before Turin: 197 with 2 currently growing, almost 5000 steps

Other than the count, I'll probably just also keep you updated if my Pikmins do anything interesting. My life is so thrilling.

Now since I came to school with the backpack I'm bringing on the plane, explaining to everyone why I have shark slippers and a blahaj in my bag instead of pens and noteblocks has been rather interesting. The people like the sharks.

12.10pm
I HAVE BEEN FREED FROM CHEMISTRY.
Quick lunch then meeting my mom and sister at the bus stop! Unrelated but I've been listening to "Kill him (he's a socialist)" by Seb Lowe in loop for three days now and I think I'm obsessed. Listening to it right now, I'm not even from the UK but I fw everything he sings about.
Just grew two pink Pikmins! One is named LEGO pink frogs and the other Pebble. There was not a singular line of thought for either of their names. Currently growing a red and a blue one, they're gonna sprout pretty soon probably.

Got this beast of a chicken sandwich. Might not be a beast to you, but to a picky eater like me it is. Absolutely destroyed it in the span of 15mins.

We're at the airport waiting for our gate to open, the two Pikmins that I planted have sprouted but I haven't checked on them yet. Not much to report as of now ✌

6.30pm
We arrived in the room and rested for a grand total of ten whole minutes before going out again. We walked through the shopping side of the city centre but most shops were closed already, so we didn't really go anywhere - but we've spotted the LEGO store which will be the death of us all tomorrow, plus a miniatures store that will just be the death of me.
We stopped at a Burger King cuz everyone was hungry and I took the chance to finally sprout those two Pikmins I planted - they're calles Ross and Black Mold, cuz why not. I didn't get anything to eat since I've never had the habit of having dinner, so I just ominously watched my parents and sister eat. I stole a couple of fries to be annoying.
Went back to the room at like 8pm I think, absolutely crushed my mom at Mario Kart, and went to bed. Goodnight (:

DAY 2 - February 8th 2025

7.40am
Happy birthday to me! I just woke up and am the only one awake.
My phone says that it's 3°c and that it's snowing, do I trust it? Not really, I'm actually sweating and it's driving me insane. I'll take a shower and wait for everyone else to wake up. Some things never change heart emoji
Update: it's not snowing I've been lied to

I lost track of time so here's a quick recap!
We had breakfast at the Farmacia del Cambio, a cafè that is knowm for its cubic and spherical croissants - they were all out when we arrived tho so I had a normal custard crossiant, and a bicherin which is coffee, hot chocolate and cream. Apparently it's supposed to be alcoholic, but I'm not a alcohol person and they didn't sell them anyways, so. Very good, would get again.

Then first museum of the day, the one I've wanted to see since I came here the first time three years ago, the Royal Palace.

Majestic is all I have to say, absolutely stunning. I didn't take a single picture myself, so they're all from my parents and sister.

I did take a picture of this painting tho, in the gallery floor upsairs. I don't know why, it's the one I liked the most.
Got some funny looking magnets and a bookmark from the museum shop, but my dad paid for them before I could. No money spent this morning yet💥 Then my sister had this fairytale-ass encounter with a squirrel in the royal gardens which was pretty neat. I stole a rock from there.

After the Royal Palace we failed at looking for a sushi restaurant for about half a hour before we resigned for the closest burger place we could find. I got a bacon chicken burger because I'm too basic, but also sweet potato fries which I think is neat. Never saw that as a fry option but maybe I just don't go outside. The theme of the place is something I would describe as a backrooms pool level.

Sprouted a white and a rock Pikmins! Named them Mayo and BBQ because those were the first things I saw.
We stopped by at a Starbucks but I'm not a huge fan of their hot beverages, so I once again stared ominously. After that it started raining a bit, but it wasn't super bad and so we decided to go to the LEGO store because why not. We all got keychains and we personalized three minifigs! Was not allowed to pay myself once again and my sister did.

Then we went to international cinema museum, inside the Mole Antonelliana. Again I didn't take any pictures but no one else did either so! No pictures for this one, sorry chat.

Got boba with my mom and sister! First money I spent in the whole trip and I take it as a win personally.

Me and my dad stayed in the room while my mom and sister went out to see some magic shops or something? I'm not interested in that personally, but I know that Turin has some magic related stuff happening and I guess that's pretty fun if you like those things!

I'm gonna stay in the room for tonight, got no physical strenght left for more walking lol. The others will probably go out to eat and I'll probably watch a bunch of YouTube. Best birthday ever !!

STOP. REWIND. HELLO??
My mom and sister came back with this beauty I've been wanting since September!! What!! How am I supposed to react to that!!
Then they pulled out a tray of brownies with some candles. Life is good.
They left again for dinner now but I'm very happy. I'll play Mario Kart until I pass out 💥

DAY 3 - February 9th 2025

No timestaps because it's 6pm and I'm writing everything right now slay. Got up at 7.30am today !! I woke everyone up immediately and while they got ready I ate a tiramisu that they brought me yesterday night. My sister didn't wake up so we went to have breakfast in the meantime! It was pretty good but I still have to get used to the absolutely huge croissants.

We went back to the room at about 10am so we could wake my sister up, then me and my dad went to the Oriental Arts Museum. I already went there as well, but it's still very cool! And I remembered to take pictures this time (:

Our search for a sushi place has succeded this time around so we had lunch there! It was pretty good (:
We went back to the room and I found ten cents on the floor.

They were useless tho because I immediately spent 32 euros when we went out again on a super cool mesh shirt, a new industrial, a piercing for my mom and a pin for my dad.

The rest of the evening was spent - after a very long walk - walking by the Po river and through a beautiful park where I made my own fairytale-ass encounter with a squirrel.

The park was full of very pretty art installations! A lot of them were cats so I might be biased, but they looked absolutely beautiful.

We stayed all evening until we were physically too tired to walk all of the way, so we got on a tram and went back to the room. My dad stayed there while we went to a bookstore and I bought a graphic novel!

My mom and sister stayed out to eat, and I stayed in the room. Fell asleep in the span of ten minutes.

I didn't keep track of all the Pikmins I planted but trust me, they were a lot. Overall, this was probably my favorite day!

DAY 4 - February 10th 2025

I woke up at 6am with the worst cold I think I've ever had 💥 the curse of the last day strikes once again.
We had our two hour guided visit to the Egyptian Museum from 10.30am to 12.30am!! But I got distracted and only took pictures of the scarabs.

My dad also got me this beauty of a necklace!

Right after that we had lunch but I honestly do not remember where or what we ate, so that's neat I guess! Then we took a taxi to the airport and that's where our journey ends ):
Spent the final €2 at the vending machines on cheese sticks. I have priorities.

I never thought I could have such an amazing birthday, I'll remember this forever ❤🪲
